Use OverControl inside supported external tools. Integrations let you bring OverControl models into your existing workflow while keeping access controlled through API keys, model selection, and supported connection settings.

Supported integration categories

OverControl currently supports integrations for AI coding tools.

AI coding tools

Connect OverControl to supported coding assistants and developer tools that allow custom model providers or OpenAI-compatible configuration.
More categories may be added over time as OverControl expands support for additional workflows.

Available integrations

Use a tool-specific guide when one is available. Each guide shows the exact fields to configure inside that tool.

Cline

Connect OverControl to Cline using an OpenAI-compatible provider, Base URL, API key, and model ID.
If your AI coding tool supports custom OpenAI-compatible providers, you may be able to use the same setup pattern: Base URL, API key, and model ID.

Before you start

Before connecting a tool, make sure you have:
  • an OverControl account;
  • access to the external tool you want to connect;
  • an OverControl API key;
  • the OverControl Base URL;
  • the model ID you want to use.

Create your OverControl account

Start with an account before generating API keys or connecting external tools.
Keep your API key private. Do not share it in screenshots, paste it into public chats, or commit it to a repository.

How most integrations work

Most supported tools use the same connection pattern.
1

Create an API key

Generate an API key from your OverControl account. The external tool uses this key to connect to OverControl.
2

Choose a model

Select the model you want the external tool to use and copy the model ID exactly.
3

Enter the connection settings

In the external tool, add the provider type, Base URL, API key, and model ID.
4

Save and test

Save the configuration and send a simple test message to confirm that the integration works.

Common setup fields

Different tools may use slightly different labels, but most integrations require the same information.
FieldWhat to enter
ProviderSelect an OpenAI-compatible or custom provider option when available.
Base URLEnter the OverControl API endpoint.
API keyPaste your OverControl API key.
Model IDEnter the exact OverControl model ID you want to use.
If a tool includes many advanced settings, start with the required fields first: provider, Base URL, API key, and model ID.

OpenAI-compatible setup

Some AI tools support custom providers through an OpenAI-compatible configuration. When a tool asks for an OpenAI-compatible provider, use the OverControl connection values:
Provider: OpenAI Compatible
Base URL: <OVERCONTROL_BASE_URL>
API key: <YOUR_OVERC0NTROL_API_KEY>
Model ID: <MODEL_ID>
Replace each placeholder with the values from your OverControl account and model settings.
The exact field names may change depending on the external tool. Always follow the tool-specific guide when one is available.

When to use an integration

Use an integration when you want OverControl available inside another tool, especially while coding or working in a developer environment. Good uses include:
  • coding assistance inside an AI coding tool;
  • reviewing implementation ideas;
  • drafting technical explanations;
  • asking model questions without leaving your workflow;
  • testing OverControl models from an external interface.
Use the OverControl web app instead when you want the full workspace experience, including private sessions, document upload, web search, sharing, and exports.

Open the OverControl web app

Use the web app when you want the complete OverControl workspace.

Troubleshooting

If an integration does not work, check these items first.
Make sure the API key was copied correctly and has not been revoked. Create a new key if needed.
Check that the Base URL matches the OverControl endpoint required by the tool.
Confirm that the model ID is written exactly as shown. Model IDs may be case-sensitive.
Check whether the tool supports custom providers or OpenAI-compatible configuration.
Check your plan and usage limits if requests are rejected after setup.
