This guide takes you from account setup to your first useful OverControl session. You will start a private chat, send a message, try a document workflow, and learn what to do before your session ends.
If you are setting up OverControl for an external tool or API client, start with the integrations guide instead.

Before you start

You need: You do not need to configure an API key to use OverControl in the web app.

Create your OverControl account

Start with a free account and open your first private AI session.

Step 1: Open OverControl

Go to OverControl and sign in to your account. If you do not have an account yet, create one here. After signing in, open the chat workspace. This is where you can start a private session, send messages, upload files, use web search, and export your work.

Step 2: Start a private chat

Click New chat to begin a fresh session. A session is the active workspace where your messages, files, and responses are processed. Start a new session whenever you want to work on a separate topic or keep context separate.
Use one session for one topic. This keeps the conversation focused and makes it easier to export later.

Step 3: Send your first message

Type a message into the chat input and send it. Try a simple writing task first:
Rewrite this sentence in a clearer and more professional tone: "Can you check this and tell me what I should fix?"
OverControl will respond inside the current session. You can continue the conversation by asking for a shorter version, a different tone, a bullet-point format, or a follow-up explanation.

Step 4: Upload a document

To work with a file, click Upload files and select a document from your device. After the file is uploaded, ask OverControl what you want it to do with the document. For example:
Summarize this document using only the information in the file. If something is not stated, say "Not included in the document."
Uploaded documents are processed during the active session. If you need to keep the result, export the conversation before ending the session.

Step 5: Use web search when needed

Use web search when your task needs recent information or external sources. For example:
Search the web for the latest official documentation about JavaScript array methods. Summarize the key points.
Use web search only when external information is useful. For private notes, drafts, or document analysis, you can usually stay inside the chat session without web access.

Step 6: Export your work

If you want to keep a copy of the conversation, click Export chat before leaving the session. Exporting lets you save the conversation locally. Once your session is removed, OverControl cannot recover it for you.
Exported conversations are under your control. Store them carefully if they contain sensitive information.
